Awesome Smile – Friendly Spice Market Smile

Posted by the smile guy on September 21st, 2008

When this gentleman realized I wanted a picture of him and his store, he gave me a warm, proud smile.

This warmth is common not only to the Spice Market (a must-see in Istanbul) but throughout Turkey. Unlike so many peoples, most Turks enjoy having their picture taken, and are quick to make friends with foreigners.

If I had a week to spend anywhere in the world with the goal of coming back with great pictures of people, culture, history, archeology, architecture..... I'd spend it in Turkey--no question.
